about
Stefan Murphy and his friend David Murphy went drinking flagons in the daytime when they were about 14 or so. It was still bright when Stefan was falling home and got into more trouble with his parents than he had ever been before. Recently Stefan found out that David had passed away in July of 2017. The last time Stefan spoke to David was just days after the birth of his daughter in July of 2011.
Stefan says:
“We went down very different paths after leaving school in 1994 and had rarely seen each other throughout our adult lives. Despite that, I still consider David one of the best friends I ever had. For about six years we did everything together, we played for the same soccer and GAA teams, He got me my first ever job (collecting rubbish at the Italia ‘90 Village in the RDS) and he turned me onto a lot of great music. We never played music together as David wasn’t inclined to be a musician, but I don’t believe I’d have ever have gotten as much into music or want to write songs if it wasn't for our friendship. We used to make our own comedy and musical cassettes in David’s bedroom in Walkinstown and listen back to entertain ourselves.
It’s hard to say that you'll miss someone who you only seen once in a blue moon. I feel a great sense of regret and shame that I didn't learn of his passing until now but the last few years have been pretty all over the place for me and it’s hard to keep up. This song is dedicated to David, and it serves as a reminder to slowly try to reconnect with those who have slipped out of my life for one reason or another. One of my favorite memories of us hanging out was being in his bedroom being introduced one by one to all of U2's pre-’Joshua Tree’ albums. My young mind was getting blown track by track and he knew it and took great pride in it.”
Rest In Peace Big Man -- You'll always be my hero.”

Bought this sucker out of the blue, not knowing nothing about who it even is. Top notch Pub Rock bard songwriting that makes me wish I was British in the 1970s. LOVE THIS MYSTERIOUS (to me) "BAND"! Quintron
